Caterpillars a Mariposas (FCM) is a Reggio-inspired childcare center located just south of Cortland at Jarboe in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. The daycare focuses on nurturing curious minds and cultivating compassionate hearts by providing a safe, loving environment where children are viewed as competent and powerful learners. Through a curriculum that sparks exploration and community, FCM guides each child’s unique journey of discovery from “caterpillar to butterfly.”

“Caterpillar’s a Mariposa’s (FCM) is a daycare where children and families will feel as though it is a home away from home. We have created a space that is safe, comfortable, and fits the needs of all children. FCM’s pedagogy is to incorporate the child, the parent, the teacher, and the community into our curriculum. The outside world is where the children will be doing the most learning. They will learn their connection to the environment and the community while simultaneously learning how to take care of themselves and the community they are growing with. As FCM grows, we hope your children will grow with us as we cultivate our place in the community. And as we grow with the community, so does our understanding of our connection to it and each other.”
