Chīsai Sushi Club, named for the Japanese word for “small,” offers an intimate, approachable omakase experience in the heart of the Bernal Heights neighborhood. Led by Chef Erik Aplin, the restaurant revitalizes the former Ichi Sushi space, focusing on sustainable, seasonal ingredients and creative Japanese techniques.
The dining experience is uniquely crafted, emphasizing “unconventional” yet refined flavors, such as seared king salmon with nori butter or albacore with Chinese-inspired seasonings. Whether seated at the intimate sushi bar or at one of the few tables, guests can enjoy a high-quality tasting menu that balances traditional nigiri with modern, inventive small plates.
