Balompié Cafe is a vibrant neighborhood destination celebrated for its authentic, soulful Salvadoran cuisine. Famous for its thick, handmade pupusas with a wide variety of traditional and specialty fillings, the cafe also serves all-day breakfast, hearty stews, and comforting specialties. Whether you are stopping in for a relaxed dine-in meal, grabbing takeout, or planning catering, Balompié Cafe delivers genuine flavors and a warm community.

We first opened our doors in 1987, to bring about a space that pays tribute to the sport we love, soccer. We share a commitment to provide the best Salvadoran food we can, using the best local ingredients as well as imported ingredients from El Salvador. We have two locations- 18th & Capp and Richland & Mission. We thrive to bring a community around what we know best – comida. 

We offer famous pupusas, both traditional and specialty, as well as typical Salvadoran dishes such as sopa de Mondongo, yucca and plantains. We also serve breakfast and handmade corn tortillas.

Handmade Pupusas: Classic options like chicharrón, loroco, and beans/cheese, plus specialty pupusas featuring chorizo, carne asada, shrimp, or jalapeno.
Traditional Breakfast (Served All Day): Featuring Plátanos (fried plantain), Casamiento (fried rice and beans), Huevos Rancheros, and unique plates with loroco.
Salvadoran Classics: Yuca (steamed or fried), Pasteles (corn pies), sweet corn Tamales, and stuffed Chile Relleno.
Hearty Soups & Plates: Sopa de Pollo, Sopa de Mondongo, Salpicón, and various Carne Asada or Pollo combinations.
Handmade Sides & Drinks: Traditional Horchata, fresh frescos, and authentic sides like crema and curtido.
